For the Students’ Mental Health Week, AYY Board Member Kerttu Peura writes about faith in the future in a blog post.

At the end of 2025, Aalto University Student Union (AYY) expanded its art collection through a call for artworks. The collection, consisting of works by AYY members, is on display at the Museum of Student Life exhibition during the spring.

The topping-out ceremony for Otakaari 15 property was celebrated in Teekkari Village, Otaniemi, on Thursday, 5 Mar 2026. Accompanied by the horn ochestra Retuperän WBK, guests arrived at the ceremony held in the property’s storage space, where they enjoyed pea soup and listened to thank you speeches.

AYY’s associations have the right to book the student union´s rental saunas, event venues and meeting rooms in advance. On these booking rounds, bookings are made for the period of Mon 3 Aug 2026 - Sun 3 Jan 2027.

Are you the next designer of the Design Notebook? TOKYO’s and AYY’s notebook will be published again in autumn 2026, and its designer will be traditionally selected from among our students. The internet service provider for Aalto University Student Union (AYY) residents is about to change. We have heard that this change has raised concerns within the student community. In this article, Chair of the AYY Board Joona Lipponen responds to questions that concern our members.

Aalto University Student Union invites Aalto students to participate in an art contest seeking permanent artworks for a new student housing building on Otakaari 15, to be completed this summer. The contest’s inspiring themes include the Otaniemi campus, the Aalto University community, and its vibrant student life. Application period: 9 Feb–31 Mar 2026

The 15-year wait of the Otaniemi teekkari community was rewarded in early November, when the community ceremonially introduced the new polyteekkari flag at the 153rd Teekkari Tradition Ball. The previous flag that had united the teekkaris of Otaniemi was the flag of the Student Union of the Helsinki University of Technology, which served the community from 1909 to 2009 and was laid to its well-earned rest with the founding of the Aalto University Student Union. This is how the new flag came into being. 

The application round for the new student apartments that are being built in Otakaari 15 starts on 16 March. The property will have 153 modern apartments that have been designed to meet the needs of current students right at the heart of Aalto University’s campus.

The Aalto University Student Union (AYY) has sold the property it owned at Kirkonkyläntie 16. The real estate transaction was completed on December 19, 2025, and the buyer is HKA Kiinteistöt Oy.

Following a tender process, the internet connection provider for student union properties will change.
