Marcell Berta has been elected as a member of the Board of the National Union of University Students in Finland (SYL) for 2026. SYL’s General Assembly held in Otaniemi, Espoo, on 14–15 November voted on the board members on Saturday evening.

Aalto University Student Union’s (AYY) Representative Council election had a turnout of 27.87 percent. Electoral alliances Yhden Tähden Liike and Kylterirengas were the biggest winners in the election.
HSL’s decision to increase fares is a disappointment
The HSL Executive Board has decided to increase fares by 3.1 per cent for the coming year. Although this increase is smaller than the previously planned 6.4 per cent, it still puts a strain on students’ already tight finances.
HSL is draining students’ wallets – ticket prices must not rise!
Aalto University Student Union (AYY) urges the HSL Board and the owning municipalities to adopt a responsible and sustainable approach to public transport pricing: ticket prices in the metropolitan area must not be increased, and the student discount must not be weakened.

We had some glimpses of this history, but it is not very well known, even among GAYY board members. Rising interest in the Representative Council election – highest number of candidates since 2011
Aalto University Student Union’s (AYY) Representative Council election has drawn more interest than in previous years. In the autumn election, 326 students are running for the Representative Council, which is the third-largest number of candidates in AYY’s history. The number of electoral alliances has also increased.
