The Design Notebook has been popular and now it’s time to start the design contest for a brand-new notebook! Next January, a design notebook will be published again instead of the traditional academic year calendar of TOKYO and AYY. The notebook published at the beginning of the year can be used as a bullet journal like a calendar, as a traditional notebook or even as a diary. We hope that the notebook is useful to more and more members of the Aalto community.

AYY offers its members rental facilities free of charge or for a reasonable price. Choose suitable facilities for sports, crafting, cooking and get-togethers!

Price of student meals will be increased from the beginning of October. In this release, we will tell you about what is happening, how much is left for the student to pay, why the price is going up and how AYY feels about this.

The National Union of University Students in Finland SYL represents university students in national decision-making. The plan of work and policy paper guiding SYL’s advocacy work will be approved at the General Assembly, where the Board of the Union will also be elected. The 2022 General Assembly will be held on 18ꟷ19 Nov 2022at Korpilampi.

AYY has decided to sell some of its residential properties in Helsinki – more student housing zoned for Otaniemi.

At its extraordinary meeting on 20 June, the Aalto University Academic Affairs Committee rejected the proposal to use pathway studies with tuition fees as an admission pathway to Aalto.

Student of Architecture Suvi Vendelin is the first student to join the Board Nomination Committee of Aalto University as a student member. She attended her first meeting in May 2021 and continues on the committee for another year.

The newsletter for residents TodAYY’s Housing Mail responds to a need to inform the residents about current housing issues by email, which was brought up in the resident survey. The newsletter is published about five times a year.

According to AYY’s strategy, the Student Union will strive for carbon neutrality by 2030, but is the pursuit of carbon neutrality enough? We cannot measure the sustainability of our activities with just one metric.
