Tapio Hautamäki elected as the President of SYL for the year of 2020
Tapio Hautamäki has been elected as the President of the National Union of University Students in Finland for the year of 2020. The ongoing general assembly in Lahti voted on the issue on Friday.
“It is a great honour to have the opportunity to lead the student movement next year. SYL has an important role as the voice of the young generation in society. Next year, we have a great opportunity to bring this movement together and clarify our vision of a better tomorrow for students as the new decade begins,” says Hautamäki.
This year, Hautamäki serves as the Chair of Aalto University Student Union Board. Previously, Hautamäki has served as Vice Chair of the AYY Board being responsible for renewing AYY’s strategy and political policy paper. In 2020, SYL will also renew its own strategy.
The general assembly elects the SYL Board and decides on the operations of 2020 on Saturday, tomorrow. The National Union of University Students in Finland represents more than 130,000 university students. The union has an impact on educational, social and international issues at a national level.
