Nette Rimpioja appointed Vice Chair of the Finnish Student Sports Federation
AYY’s candidate, Nette Rimpioja, has been appointed as OLL’s Vice Chair for 2025. Rimpioja is an experienced advocate in youth organisations, including the Union of Local Youth Councils in Finland and the Youth League of the Finnish Norden Association. She is currently studying business at Aalto University and also serves as Chair of the Advocacy Committee under AYY’s Representative Council.
‘I am grateful to the student movement for its trust in me! I promise to work relentlessly for student wellbeing and to promote a sports-positive culture in our society’, commented the newly elected Rimpioja.
OLL is an advocacy and service organisation that represents all Finnish higher education students in both national and international fields. The primary goal of OLL is for students to engage in sufficient physical exercise for their health and for higher education sports services to be at an adequate level. The general assembly elects the OLL Board and decides on the federation’s activities for the upcoming year.

The proposal for an overall reform of student financial aid is disappointing
Aalto University Student Union (AYY) made a statement on the legislative proposal of the Ministry of Education and Culture concerning the comprehensive reform of student financial aid. The proposal is disappointing because it does not solve the core problems of student financial aid or improve the livelihoods of students.
A promise of free education is not enough
The Ministry of Education and Culture has published a vision for higher education and research for 2040, which is intended to guide the direction of Finland's higher education policy. Increasing the number of university graduates in the young age group to 60 per cent, as proposed by the vision, requires investments and ambition from decision-makers.
