AYY’s new student housing building completed in Otaniemi – 153 new student apartments
The first residents moved into their new homes on Monday, 17 August. Otakaari 15 is the first student housing building right in the heart of Aalto University campus. The building is just a few minutes’ walk from Otaniemi metro station and A Bloc shopping center. Otakaari 15 expands the selection of student housing options in the growing campus area.

The 153 apartments include studios, two-room, and three-room apartments, all designed with students’ current needs and residential comfort in mind. The building offers versatile communal facilities that support daily life and foster a sense of community. The building has a total net floor area of 4,465 square meters.
"AYY offers its members affordable housing. According to our strategy, we focus our housing operations close to the Aalto University campus, with future investments targeted at Otaniemi. In 2025, the average occupancy rate was 97.9% in AYY housing and 99.3% in Otaniemi properties", says AYY’s CFO Veera Kivivirta.
More student apartments in Otaniemi
AYY Board Member Saska Kolehmainen is delighted that the new student building has been completed despite the challenging construction and funding environment.
"It’s great that, despite the challenging economic situation, we are able to produce amazing new homes for students and provide affordable housing for a growing need", says Kolehmainen.
A total of four student housing properties are planned along Otakaari, with Otakaari 15 being the first to be completed. The planned properties will expand Teekkari Village’s student housing to the other side of Otakaari and provide more homes for students right in the heart of Aalto University campus.
