Why run as a candidate?

As a student, you bring a unique perspective on the city’s development. As a member of Espoo City Council, you can have a significant impact on decision-making that affects both the daily lives of students and the overall development of the city. You can also ensure that Otaniemi remains vibrant, sustainable, and student-friendly. In the city council, you can promote the following issues, for example:

  • Housing development: The City of Espoo influences the construction of student housing and affordable living through zoning.
  • Transport and public services: In the Espoo City Council, you can impact the number and development of public transport connections and cycle paths.
  • Comfort of living and environment: You can promote the upkeep of green areas and make the Otaniemi area an even more comfortable place for students and other residents.

As a city council member, you will be part of a major decision-making process that addresses the urban development of the entire city of Espoo. However, local influence is often particularly significant. The Otaniemi area, with its large student community, needs representatives who advocate for its specific needs.
