This is how we are creating the best student life in the world

Aalto University Student Union’s strategy describes AYY’s operational priorities for 2021–2024. The strategy helps AYY to better serve its members and respond to changes in its operating environment proactively and smoothly. Sitra’s Megatrends 2020 and other identified driving forces in the near future have been used in the preparing of the strategy. The driving forces that will affect AYY, in particular, include the sense of community, sustainability crisis, power of communications and networks, as well as diversity and internationality. The impact of these driving forces will certainly be visible in the Aalto community during the current strategy period.
The common thread of the strategy is the idea that AYY’s services enable every member to live the best student life in the world. AYY’s members come from different backgrounds and have different needs. The strategy prepares AYY to serve them all better. The strategy sets goals for both the future AYY and student life.
The strategy is a prerequisite for AYY’s change, but its existence alone does not mean that everything is ready. At AYY, the strategy is a tool for daily management and the basis for planning operations. The strategy will be updated if there are major changes in AYY’s operating environment that require us to change the priorities of AYY’s operations. AYY’s office evaluates the implementation of the strategy every autumn, and the strategy guides the preparation of the annual plan of action.
On this page, you can learn more about AYY’s strategy, its visualisation and thoughts of people behind the process.

Recent studies speak for themselves – poor student wellbeing is getting out of hand. We demand that decision-makers take the mental health crisis seriously and address insufficient resources as soon as possible.
