AYY10 Anniversary Section is looking for committee members!
Our dear Student Union has operated for many years already and soon it is time to celebrate its first decade. However, AYY10 Anniversary Section cannot do everything by itself, so now we are looking for members to the subcommittees of the Section!
In the Anniversary Section committees, you can create and organise various events for the anniversary year, as well as the actual anniversary ball.
We need people to organise events that take place throughout the year, as well as the anniversary week and the anniversary ball. Do you want to participate and make AYY’s 10th anniversary the greatest?
Do you have some completely new ideas that could take the May Day to the anniversary year level? Are you the undisputedly best decorator who makes the anniversary ball the greatest of the decade? You can be the one to ensure that this anniversary becomes a spectacle that it deserves!
The committee members will be selected based on the application and possible interview. Event committees are responsible for the planning and organising of their own event. We are looking for committees to organise the following events:
- The greatest anniversary events (three committees), Anna Anttalainen, Ville Mansikkaniemi, Henni Huttunen and Minttu Patajoki
- There are several major events during the anniversary year, for which these committees are each responsible for
- Cocktail Committee, Jenina Noki and Henni Huttunen
- Responsible for organising the cocktail party before the main event
- Main Event Committee, Niklas Sivaro and Elisa Jokinen
- Responsible for the main event at Finlandia Hall
- Afterparty Committee, Suvi Rantamäki and Minttu Patajoki
- Responsible for organising the afterparty
- Sillis Committee, Vili Kurppa and Severi Huuki
- Responsible for the anniversary herring brunch and the herring day programme
In addition, it is possible to mention that you are only interested in working in just one particular area. These people are either divided into event committees to organise the event of their interest or they can form their own committee, depending on the interests of the applicants. These areas include decoration, communication and graphic design, for example. You can also mention that you are interested in both event committees and other areas.
The application for the anniversary committees will open on 1 Oct 2019 and close on 20 Oct 2019.
Any questions? For more information, please contact Titta Saari, Chair of AYY10 Anniversary Section, other section members, or Niina Palm, Anniversary Producer (first.last@ayy.fi).

The proposal for an overall reform of student financial aid is disappointing

A promise of free education is not enough
The Ministry of Education and Culture has published a vision for higher education and research for 2040, which is intended to guide the direction of Finland's higher education policy. Increasing the number of university graduates in the young age group to 60 per cent, as proposed by the vision, requires investments and ambition from decision-makers. In this blog, Totti Korpua, AYY’s Advocacy Specialist, discusses the significance of the vision for students.
