The Representative Council of Aalto University Student Union (AYY) has appointed the Chair of the Representative Council and the former of the Board for the year 2020 in their meeting on Tuesday 12 Nov 2019. Next year, Suvi Vendelin will act as the Chair of the Representative Council and Olli Kesseli as the former of the Board.
Suvi Vendelin is a sixth year architecture student. This year she has been a board member of the National Union of University Students in Finland and in 2018 she was a board member of AYY. ”Let’s make this an inspiring and impactful year for the representative council. It’s wonderful to get the chance to chair the newly elected council! There is great student democracy at work here”, commented Vendelin.
Olli Kesseli is a fifth year student of industrial engineering. This year he has been a member of the AYY board, being responsible for community, volunteers and alumni. ”Feels awesome! Thank you to the representative council for having trust in me. Next year is full of great challanges that we will get to solve together”, rejoiced Kesseli.
The former of the Board will make a proposal on the AYY Board for 2020 to the Representative Council, who will appoint the new Board in its meeting on 28 Nov 2019. Application to Board member and to Vice Chair of the Representative Council remains open until 7 Nov. Detailed instructions for applying here.

The new polyteekkari flag finally raised in Otaniemi
The 15-year wait of the Otaniemi teekkari community was rewarded in early November, when the community ceremonially introduced the new polyteekkari flag at the 153rd Teekkari Tradition Ball. The previous flag that had united the teekkaris of Otaniemi was the flag of the Student Union of the Helsinki University of Technology, which served the community from 1909 to 2009 and was laid to its well-earned rest with the founding of the Aalto University Student Union. This is how the new flag came into being.
