AYY has three different scholarships:
- Exchange scholarship
- Community scholarship
- Study scholarship
In addition to these, AYY administers certain field-specific scholarship funds.
Meant for Aalto University degree students going on exchange. Can be applied for before, during or after the exchange. The applicant’s activity in the community and their study performance are taken into account when scholarships are awarded. In recent years, the scholarship amount has varied between 300–800 €, depending on where the exchange takes place.
Meant for Student Union members who have been active in the community. The applicant’s activity in the community is taken into account when scholarships are awarded. The scholarship amounts to 500 €.
Meant for Student Union members who have been active in the community and managed to successfully combine their studies and student life. The applicant’s activity in the community and their study performance are taken into account when scholarships are awarded. The scholarship amounts to 500 €.
The application period for autumn is Wednesday 23.10.2019, 12:00 – Wednesday 13.11.2019, 12:00. The scholarships are awarded and informed to the applicant by the end of December. Only exchange scholarships are awarded in the autumn.
The application round for spring 2020 is in March–April, and the scholarships are awarded by the end of May. All three scholarships are awarded in the spring.

Frequently asked questions
Exchange scholarships can be applied for twice a year, every spring and every autumn. An exchange scholarship can be applied for before or during the exchange or, at the latest, in the application round following the return home.
Yes, you can. If you are awarded a scholarship but your exchange falls through, you just have to pay back the scholarship.
Scholarships are awarded in accordance with the Scholarship Regulation and the scoring guideline for community operations. They can both be studied on AYY’s scholarship website. The Scholarship Distribution Committees process the applications based on these guidelines.
Scholarships are applied for with an application form that is open during the scholarship application periods. The application form can be found on AYY’s scholarship website. The application period in the spring is in March–April, and in the autumn, in October–November. The more specific application period is announced on AYY’s channels and updated onto the website once decided.
The decisions are made and published by the end of May for spring and by the end of December for autumn. All applicants are personally informed of the decision, and the names of scholarship recipients are published on the AYY website.
The scholarships are mainly targeted at members of the Student Union who are completing a basic degree (bachelor’s and/or master’s) at Aalto University.
