Registration for the SYL delegation

In accordance with AYY's SYL regulations, the Representative Council groups nominate their own representatives to AYY's SYL General Assembly delegation, or alternatively, relinquish their seats in the delegation. The Representative Council groups must register their representatives or relinquish their seats by 23.59 pm on 7 September using this form. Every member of AYY has the right to apply to the SYL General Assembly delegation. If you are not nominated as a general assembly delegate through a Representative Council group, you can apply for the delegation through the seats that have been relinquished. Delegates must commit to attending the entire meeting. Please note that the meeting may run late on Saturday.

Please note that anyone wishing to become a delegate must register for the delegation via this form. The last day to register for the SYL General Assembly Delegation is 7 September at 23.59 pm. SYL's open document evening for General Assembly materials will be held on September 11 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Each Representative Council group has a number of seats in the AYY delegation, distributed according to the balance of power within the Representative Council. AYY has a total of 18 delegates.

The distribution of seats in the delegation is as follows:

The Board's seats: 5 delegates

Jämerä Ratas: 4 delegates

Aallon Kokoomus: 2 delegates

Vihreämpi Aalto: 2 delegates

Pro Progress: 2 delegates

Kylterirengas: 1 delegate

Våga: 1 delegate

A substitute delegate may be appointed for each regular delegate. A substitute delegate may also act as a substitute for more than one delegate. In addition, a regular delegate may also act as a substitute for another delegate.

Guidelines for running as AYY's candidate for the SYL Board

Being a member of the SYL Board is a full-time position of trust for which remuneration is paid. As a member of the board, you have the opportunity to advocate for a better tomorrow for every university student. AYY candidates for a member or chair position on the SYL Board are required to commit for the entire year, have an understanding of student advocacy and strong motivation for the position.

AYY's candidates for the SYL Board are interviewed by the Advocacy Committee, which proposes the SYL Board candidate(s) to the AYY Board. The AYY Board approves the proposal made by the Advocacy Committee. For more information, please contact Sonja Naalisvaara, AYY's Manager of Advocacy and Communications (contact details below).

If you want to apply as AYY's candidate for the SYL Board, please submit your application and CV by 7 September 2025 at 23.59 pm to rekrytointi@ayy.fi.

Interviews will take place on the morning of 10 September at the AYY office at Otakaari 11. Candidates will be personally informed of the exact time of the interviews. The selection process will take place in week 37, and all candidates will be informed. Potential SYL Board candidates should be prepared to attend SYL's autumn seminar in Turku on 19–20 September.

The new polyteekkari flag finally raised in Otaniemi

The 15-year wait of the Otaniemi teekkari community was rewarded in early November, when the community ceremonially introduced the new polyteekkari flag at the 153rd Teekkari Tradition Ball. The previous flag that had united the teekkaris of Otaniemi was the flag of the Student Union of the Helsinki University of Technology, which served the community from 1909 to 2009 and was laid to its well-earned rest with the founding of the Aalto University Student Union. This is how the new flag came into being.
