Students’ voice heard in Espoo’s new strategy
The updated Espoo’s strategy and its goals will guide Espoo’s development over the next four years.
The strategy section ‘the top city for education’ emphasises that students should be able to enjoy Finland’s best student life in Espoo and establish roots in the city, so that Espoo remains their preferred place to live after graduation.
Espoo continues to invest in developing the Otaniemi campus area by strengthening services and the housing supply, for instance.
The strategy states that Espoo’s goal is to be the best place in the Nordic countries for returning and new international students. The city aims to increase the number of international students and wants to help them find employment in Espoo after graduation.
Espoo’s strategy is awaiting approval by the City Council on 20 Oct 2025. AYY encourages city council members to vote in favour of student-friendly Espoo!
