Song Contest Sitsis
The Song Contest is here again!
The spectacular opening blast of Teekkari Tradition Week — the Song Contest — has begun!
So seize the opportunity: dig up the masterpieces you’ve created over the past year, or compose a brand-new hit for the sitsi tables! You can participate either solo or as a team, with one or several songs.
The contest is open to everyone who wants to try their hand at songwriting and enrich the song culture of Otaniemi. The goal is to bring forth new music and sing together through fresh gems as well as revolutionary experiments!
Competition categories are as follows:
1. Previously unperformed: A new parody or original song that has not been performed before.
2. Previously performed: A parody or original song that has been performed before.
3. International: A parody or original song in a language other than Finnish.
4. Bonus category – Operas: A parody or original song set to a melody from an opera.
(For example: “Hyvät ystävät,” melody from “Non più andrai,” aria from W. A. Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro; “Se kolmas vesilaulu,” melody from “La donna è mobile,” canzone from G. Verdi’s Rigoletto.)
So, what are you waiting for? The contest is open, and you have until October 26, 2025 to submit your entries!
You can find the contest rules and registration instructions through the link provided. By taking part in the contest, you get a chance to buy yourself a sitsi ticket right away after submitting your song.
