Booking calendar for the spring term 2024 opens to the public on Friday

After advance booking rounds, Tila calendar opens for bookings for the spring term (8 Jan - 4 Aug 24) on Friday, 15 December 2023, at 12 noon.

Changes to payment method for facility bookings starting from 12 December 2023

Starting from 12 December 2023, individual students pay the facility rent at the time of booking. Facility reservations are still made in the Tila calendar as usual. After making the reservation, the Tila system directs the booker to the Paytrail payment service, where payment is made using either online payment or debit and credit cards.

Billing customers, such as external bookers and specific associations within AYY, will continue to receive an e-invoice or e-mail invoice to their specified billing address. Additional hours or night use permits for Servin mökki for private bookers will be invoiced separately.

Changes to the usage hours and pricing of facilities

To enable Paytrail payment, the usage hours of some rental facilities will be extended, and hourly pricing will be discontinued starting 12 December 2023:

New usage hours of Takka cabinet and Pelimanni are Sun-Thu 10 am - 10 pm and Fri-Sat 10 am -11 pm. Price for a full-day reservation is €100.

Morning rental of Vaasankatu cabinet will be discontinued starting 12 Dec 2023. Usage hours of Vaasankatu sauna will be Sun-Thu 10 am - 10 pm and Fri-Sat 10 am - 11 pm. Price for a full-day reservation is €200.

Starting from 12 Dec 2023, the usage period for the AYY van will change to a 24-hour basis. The usage period is from 12 noon to 12 midnight, and the rental price is €70. The pricing per kilometer will be discontinued. Instead of kilometre compensation, each renter will fill up the tank with diesel at the nearest refueling station by the end of the 24h rental period. For bookings shorter than a day, inquiries for vans can be made at car rental agencies in the Helsinki metropolitan area.

These changes apply only to new reservations. All bookings made before 12 December 2023 remain valid according to the usage period and price that were in effect at the time of booking.

A promise of free education is not enough

The Ministry of Education and Culture has published a vision for higher education and research for 2040, which is intended to guide the direction of Finland's higher education policy. Increasing the number of university graduates in the young age group to 60 per cent, as proposed by the vision, requires investments and ambition from decision-makers. In this blog, Totti Korpua, AYY’s Advocacy Specialist, discusses the significance of the vision for students.
