Monday, 2 Sept, is the year’s biggest moving day for AYY student housing as the new academic year is starting! On the moving day, an estimated 300-400 movers will visit the service office, which is why we will only serve customers with moving-related issues. Housing service points will be open on the moving day from 12 noon to 16.00. For all other issues, please reach us via email housing@ayy.fi or phone.

The AYY service office entrance is located in the upper yard, and the doors will open at 12 noon. We serve customers with queue numbers at four service points. For those waiting in a queue, we’ll offer activities and a raffle where you can win used household appliances and dishware. Dishware and household appliances are donated by ACRE. Some AYY board members can be met in the upper yard.

The moving day will be very busy, so be prepared to queue for the keys. We at AYY aim to serve you efficiently and will provide contact details for any other inquiries.

Here is a list of tips for the moving day:

  • Moving days can be very busy, so arrive early and be prepared to queue.
  • Bring something to eat and drink.
  • Wear comfortable clothes and gear suited to the weather.
  • Keep your documents ready. Make sure that all documents related to the rental agreement are in order and readily available if needed.
  • If someone else will be picking up the keys for you, either send a power of attorney in advance to housing@ayy.fi or ensure they have a printed copy when picking up the keys.
  • Remember to bring your ID to ensure the keys can be handed over.

The proposal for an overall reform of student financial aid is disappointing

A promise of free education is not enough

The Ministry of Education and Culture has published a vision for higher education and research for 2040, which is intended to guide the direction of Finland's higher education policy. Increasing the number of university graduates in the young age group to 60 per cent, as proposed by the vision, requires investments and ambition from decision-makers. In this blog, Totti Korpua, AYY’s Advocacy Specialist, discusses the significance of the vision for students.
