Applications are open for Team Manta 2027
As a member of Team Manta, you can leave your mark on a beloved Wappu tradition and one of Helsinki’s largest public events. You will have the chance to experience a unique volunteer role and enjoy an unforgettable Wappu Eve.
Team Manta’s responsibilities include planning and executing Manta’s crowning spectacle on (possible) Wappu 2027 when it is Aalto University Student Union’s turn to crown the statue. Student unions in the metropolitan area take turns to crown Havis Amanda, and AYY’s turn comes every four years.
We hope to receive a wide range of applications from all Aalto fields. Beneficial for the position are strong teamwork skills, a proactive mindset, creativity, and an enthusiastic attitude. You can specialise in event planning, corporate relations, communications, marketing, or promotional events, for example. AYY’s producer, communications specialist, and board member will support and assist the team.
The project will begin in autumn 2026, but Team Manta can already follow the crowning this spring, when the Student Union of the University of Helsinki has its turn to crown the statue. The highlight of our project is Wappu Eve, 30 Apr 2027, when Havis Amanda will be crowned with a student cap. We require commitment to the project from September 2026 to May 2027.
Let’s make the 2027 crowning of Manta truly unforgettable!
Apply for Team Manta through this form by 10 Apr. Please reserve time for interviews between 13 and 20 April.
