Edustajistovaalit 28.10.-3.11.2021

In the Representative Council elections, 45 RepCo members were elected for 2022-2023. The Representative Council represents all members of the Student Union and exercises the highest authority at AYY. Voting percent was 5,67 percent lower than in 2019.

"The turnout this time was significantly lower compared to AYY's previous RepCo elections. Above all, the pandemic led to the challenge of compiling lists of candidates, with the number of candidates decreasing for this election by about a third. Despite the challenging situation, I would like to express my humble gratitude for the active election work to all candidates as well as to the electoral alliances. As a person prone to positivity, I still the voting activity as a victory, after which we are ready to set out to achieve record turnout again in two years' time", comments Werneri Huhtinen, Chair of Central Election Committee.

The results has been confirmed Nov 4th at the audit accounting meeting.

The elected members of the Representative Council for the years 2022-2023 are:

Government cuts put a stop to the construction of student housing

We are shocked by the recent cuts of the Finnish Government which put student housing and its construction at stake. In its session on spending limits, the Government made significant cuts to the special group investment grants for student housing construction, which makes the commencement of already planned housing projects in the capital region uncertain and complicates the housing situation for students as well as the housing activities of the Aalto University Student Union (AYY).
