AYY is looking for international affairs specialist!
International affairs specialist works in the Student Union’s advocacy team and in close cooperation with the annually changing Student Union Board. In this position, you will be able to develop Aalto University and promote student rights. The Student Union engages in advocacy both locally in the Aalto community and in society at large together with other organisations.
The specialist participates in the university’s various working groups, coordinates advocacy work related to international students and promotes internationality at the university and the student union. In 2021, Aalto University will implement its new strategy and participate in the activities of various international university networks. The specialist will work on language accessibility and promote the integration of international students. Duties include organising the reception of new international students and related advocacy work. The specialist organises tutor training for international students together with the specialist in charge of new students.
In addition to these themes, the work includes student counselling and providing training for AYY’s own community on international themes. In addition, the specialist prepares advocacy material and decision-making related to one’s area of responsibility. Working in the student union and with the university requires a passion for development, independent approach and initiative, effective implementation of decisions and strategic eye. All our specialists also communicate about their areas of responsibility. The work can also focus on content that matches the skills and interests of the selected person.
Requirements:
- Higher education studies
- Skills to work in a multicultural work community
- Prioritisation skills and initiative
- Good command of Finnish
- Excellent command of English
- Excellent interaction and negotiation skills
- Experience in communications
- Ability to understand the big picture and pick up new skills
- Willingness and enthusiasm to work with students and provide training on international themes
Beneficial in the position:
- Experience in working with the university, student union or associations
- Experience in training and facilitation
- Command of Swedish and other language skills
- Knowledge of processes involved in international mobility

The employment relationship is permanent and full-time (37.5 hours/week). The salary is determined by a collective agreement of the student unions (salary category III, plus any education and experience allowances). AYY’s office is located in Otaniemi, Espoo, along with good transport connections.
