Independent committees
Recruited committees:
Kitchen Training Committee
The Kitchen Training Committee (KeKoT) consists of a chair and 10-15 members. The committee organizes 8-12 training sessions annually on the use of the Smökki kitchen for the community. The goal of the training is to ensure the correct and safe use of the devices. Training is required for those reserving the kitchen.
The committee also maintains and cleans the Smökki kitchen and reports any deficiencies and malfunctions to AYY's facility and service team.
Application period: Chair 20 Oct - 4 Dec 2025, members 20 Oct 2025 - 2 Jan 2026

Alumni Committee
AYY’s alumni committee does not cover all of the student union’s alumni activities but focuses specifically on activities aimed at former active members of the student union. Former volunteers (sections, committees, etc.), board members, and employees participate in the AYY Alumni events. Because of this, the alumni committee volunteers have the freedom to create and develop events and activities for AYY Alumni. The workload is manageable for alumni with busy schedules. In previous years, the activities of AYY Alumni have been relaxed yet meaningful, and this group has organized various events, from visits to the Parliament House to appro pub crawls. The committee of approximately ten members is led by a chairperson. Additionally, the committee receives support from AYY’s alumni specialist.
Application period: Chair 20 Oct - 4 Dec 2025, members 20 Oct 2025 - 2 Jan 2026

Acknowledgement Committee
According to AYY’s acknowledgement regulation: “The Student Union Board decides on the allocation of badges of merit and honour based on the proposal of the Acknowledgement Committee. The Board appoints the members of the Acknowledgement Committee.”
The primary task of the Acknowledgement Committee is therefore to prepare a proposal for the Student Union Board on the acknowledgements to be awarded in accordance with the regulation. At first, the committee members become acquainted with AYY’s acknowledgement practices and traditions. The main task of the committee is to review and evaluate suggestions received from the members and to draft a presentable proposal for the Board. In addition, the Committee may support the Board and employees in communications, development and other deliberation related to the acknowledgements.
The committee is suitable for persons who have studied for a longer period of time and want to promote AYY’s rewarding culture. Most of the committee work takes place in February-March.
The committee members should have competence in various areas of the community and awareness of active community members within AYY.
Application period: Chair 20 Oct - 4 Dec 2025, members 20 Oct 2024-2 Jan 2026

Collective committees:
Chairs of independent collective committees
There are four independent committees within AYY, each of which recruits a chair. These committees include the Committee for Corporate Relations Officers (YTMK), Committee for Communication Officers (VTMK), Treasurers’ Committee (RahaTMK), and Committee for Editor-in-Chiefs (PääTMK).
Independent in this context means that the chair is not part of AYY’s section. Chairs are responsible for organising recreational activities for their committee and acquiring merchandise for the committee. The chair has the freedom to organise team-building activities and recreation for the committee, though traditional ways have included gatherings at association anniversaries, sauna nights, and exchanges with the previous committee.
Application period: 20 Oct - 4 Dec 2025
