AYY10 Product Concept Competition
Design the AYY10 anniversary product!
NOTE. THE COMPETITON TIME HAS BEEN EXPANDED TO THE END OF OCTOBER!
To celebrate our 10-year journey AYY is launching a Product Concept Competition. We are searching for an Aalto student, whose vision would bring about a product, embodying our anniversary as well the Aalto Creativity. The winner of the competition will receive a prize worth of 500€, the second place 200€ euros and the third 100€ euros. In addition the winners will have the opportunity to discuss about selling the item via Aalto Shop. Competition last 16.9.-31.10.
Competition rules:

All people currently studying in, or have graduated from, Aalto are eligible to take part in the competition.

With this competition, we wish to showcase the extensive knowhow and innovations of our community. Thus, the product should embody the ten years old Aalto community that we celebrate

The product has to be realistic and as sustainable as possible.

All design propositions should be submitted as an e-mail attachment to tero.uuttana@ayy.fi by Oct 13th at 23:59. The participant should attach the following documents in pdf format with their application, each document with their alias on it :

An image/illustration of the product

A short description of the product and arguments on how it embodies the Aalto Spirit celebrates our anniversary year

A plan on how the product will be manufactured.

All applications are handled anonymously, and the judges won’t see the contact details of the sender. Contact details, name, line of study, e-mail address and phone number should be added to the message field of the e-mail application. Please add “AYY10 Tuotekilpailu” as the subject line.
The jury will be named later.
Schedule:
Sep 16th – The competition launches
Oct 31st at 23:59 – The competition closes. After this, the judges will choose the winner(s) and contact them.
The winners and the winning product will be announced next year

The proposal for an overall reform of student financial aid is disappointing
Aalto University Student Union (AYY) made a statement on the legislative proposal of the Ministry of Education and Culture concerning the comprehensive reform of student financial aid. The proposal is disappointing because it does not solve the core problems of student financial aid or improve the livelihoods of students.
A promise of free education is not enough
The Ministry of Education and Culture has published a vision for higher education and research for 2040, which is intended to guide the direction of Finland's higher education policy. Increasing the number of university graduates in the young age group to 60 per cent, as proposed by the vision, requires investments and ambition from decision-makers.
