We are looking for an inspiring and driven Advocacy and Communications Manager to lead the student union’s advocacy and communications. Apply for the position by 30 Apr 2026!

We are looking for an inspiring and driven Advocacy and Communications Manager! In this role, you will directly impact Aalto University Student Union’s advocacy and its effectiveness. You will have overall responsibility for advocacy and communications, develop strategic advocacy, and ensure that AYY’s voice is heard—both among interest groups and in students’ everyday lives. You will supervise the advocacy and communications teams and ensure AYY progresses toward its advocacy goals, reaches key target groups, and makes advocacy work visible to members. Advocacy and Communications Manager’s role has also included monitoring and developing the student union’s ecological sustainability in cooperation with the management team. This has accounted for approximately 20% of weekly working hours. The role may also include additional responsibilities aligned with the selected candidate’s strengths and interests.

Requirements:

  • Experience in stakeholder influence and advocacy
  • Understanding of multi-channel and strategic communications 
  • Experience in people management and motivation to develop in a managerial role
  • Ability to understand the big picture and acquire new skills
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to communicate fluently in both Finnish and English
  • An independent and solution-oriented approach, and the ability to prioritise your own work and the work of others 
  • Ability to work under pressure and occasional flexibility in working hours
  • Higher education studies relevant to the role

The employment relationship is permanent and full-time. The employment will begin as agreed as soon as a suitable candidate is found. Salary is determined according to the collective agreement of the student unions (salary category IV, basic salary €3,030/month, plus applicable education and experience allowances).
