Rent payment and deposit
Payment of rent
Invoices will be emailed to the address you have used to log in to Domo. So please make sure that your contact details at Domo are up to date. The rent payment date is usually the 6th of the month. It is not possible to pay rent by cash or card.
You do not have to worry about payments before receiving invoices. Invoices are usually only sent close to the start date of the lease. The first rent and the deposit must be paid by the due date stated on the invoices. The due date is not necessarily the 6th of the month like in the following rental invoices. The due date for the first rental invoice and the deposit depends on when the invoices are sent to the tenant.
Invoices may include information on extended payment periods, so it is advisable to read your messages.
You can contact the financial administration with the rental affairs form if you have any concerns about the rent.
You are always responsible for paying the rent to AYY, even if you have subleased or secondary leased your apartment/part of your apartment to another person. AYY always sends rental invoices to its main tenants. A secondary tenant or a sub-tenant does not have a lease with the Student Union.
AYY recommends that a secondary tenant or a sub-tenant always pays the rent to the main tenant and the main tenant pays the rent to AYY. In this way, you can ensure that your tenant pays their rent on time. AYY collects all possible costs arising from late payments from its main tenants.
If you have accidentally overpaid your rent, you have the option to request a refund for the excess amount using a rent payment formor inform us that you will pay the upcoming month’s rent in advance. For a refund, please provide your account number. Account numbers are mainly submitted at Domo. If necessary, you can also send your account number for the refund of the deposit via email or bring it personally to the services office. If you have the option to use secure email, we recommend using it to submit your information. We do not accept account numbers via a form or through verbal notification.
If you have difficulties with rent payment and wish to arrange a payment plan, please contact us via the rent payment form. If the third unpaid rent becomes due, the outstanding rent will automatically be forwarded to collections.

The deposit will be refunded to the account you have provided no later than the 20th of the month, provided that all rental obligations have been met and no damage has been caused to the apartment. If you haven't received your deposit back by the 20th of the month, please contact AYY with the deposit form.

PLEASE NOTE! If you have a joint lease with another tenant, and that person moves out before you, you will be responsible for the final cleaning. We will refund the deposit to the departing tenant, and once the refund is processed, it cannot be recovered if the final cleaning is neglected, for example.
The property owner reserved the right to deduct the following expenses from the deposit, for example: unpaid rent, final cleaning costs, replacement costs for unreturned keys, offsetting of the agreed contract penalty, damage to the apartment (e.g. pet-related damage or other damage beyond normal wear and tear).
After the tenant has vacated the apartment, AYY reserves the right to arrange cleaning services and charge the tenant if the final cleaning has not been completed satisfactorily or at all. The deposit may be partially or fully withheld, depending on the costs incurred. If required, the deposit may be withheld until the condition of the apartment is inspected or until any missing keys are returned.
