Reimbursing the right of residence

AYY’s right of residence can be reimbursed for the time period during which the resident has been unable to utilise the housing services, for example, while they were completing a student exchange or their military service. Find out on this page in what kinds of situations reimbursement is available and how to apply for it.

When is the right of residence reimbursed?

The right of residence may be reimbursed in the following situations:

  • You have registered for non-attendance

  • You have been on maternity, paternity or parental leave

  • You have been completing your military service. During the military service, you have not rented an apartment from AYY or you have subleased your apartment to an AYY member for the duration of your absence.

  • You have been on a student exchange or completing a study-related internship or JOO studies outside the capital region. During your absence, you have not rented an apartment from AYY or you have subleased your apartment to an AYY member for the duration of your absence.

Applying for reimbursement

AYY does not actively monitor the attendance records of students, so to have your right of residence reimbursed for an absent period, you must notify Housing Services separately. If you have been on exchange or completing a study-related internship or JOO studies elsewhere, you must deliver some form of evidence to the Housing Services that states the duration of the exchange, internship or studies in months ( starting and ending date)

You can apply reimbursement with this form!
