The Representative Council represents all members of the Student Union and exercises the highest authority at AYY.

Board
The Student Union’s administrative and executive powers are exercised by the Board elected by the Representative Council. The Board’s term of office is one calendar year. The Board is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Student Union and for implementing the action plan. The Board represents the Student Union, supervises the Student Union administration, and exercises general executive power within the limits set by regulations and the decisions of the Representative Council.
The ten-member Board is led by the Chair who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Board. The Board will hold its first meeting in January. Approximately half of the working time is spent on common board work, but each board member is also responsible for a certain area. Here you can see examples how the responsibilities of previous boards have been divided.
As a member of the Board, you will become a part of the AYY office staff and work community. You may consider working for the Board as a full-time job. Therefore, you should not plan to study or work in addition to the work in the Board.

The Representative Council
The Representative Council is AYY’s highest decision-making body. You may consider the Representative Council being like AYY’s parliament. The 45 members of the Representative Council are elected every two years by vote. Next elections will be held in 2023.
The Chair is responsible for the activities of the Representative Council in general, including the preparation of meetings and the chairing of meetings. The roles of vice chairs are always shaped by the actors of each year.

Additions to AYY’s art collection - works on display at the Museum of Student Life
Seven works of art have been added to the art collection of Aalto University Student Union. The works of art are on display at AYY’s Museum of Student Life. The museum is open on Sundays from 2 pm to 4 pm.
